Week Long Alaskan Wilderness River Trip

Imagine an 80 mile, week long wilderness river trip on the Sambocharling River in Alaska with great fishing and spectacular scenery. If you enjoy catching wild rainbow trout, this is the trip for you! The trip is timed for the post king salmon spawn resulting in lots of rainbow trout, black and grizzly bears, beaver, eagles, and more. Silver salmon may also be present as well as char and grayling. Even wolves have been spotted on this trip!

The trip begins in Aniak, Alaska. Flying in via bush airplane, river camping, and a crackling fire will allow you to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery. AlaskaQuest keeps each trip small - only 4 to 6 people - to maximize the wildlife sightings, keep the fishing good and to thoroughly enjoy the time around the campfires. Everyday starts with a scrumptious breakfast made by the guides. This energy-filled breakfast will ensure the stamina needed to fish all day long if the opportunity arises, which it often does! The days will be filled with fishing, floating on the river, taking the time to get to know your fellow companions and the chance to see one of the most beautiful parts of Alaska.

While most of the fishing is done from shore, fishing from the raft yields the perfect drift in many situations. Like most quality lodges and outfitters in Alaska, we have a catch and release policy on all species, except salmon. Growth is slow in the far north for fish and we hope this action will enable future generations to experience the same quality fishing that we enjoy now. Sometimes we supplement dinner with one of the salmon that we caught that day. There is nothing like fresh salmon!

Wildlife viewings are common in this part of Alaska. It is likely that we will see moose, caribou, black bear, brown bear, eagles, fox and even wolves. The scenery that surrounds the river is impressive and majestic - it will make you understand why Alaska is called The Last Frontier.

Our mobile camp system is ideal for your river float trip experience. If we are into good fishing, we stay and fish. We are not dependent on prearranged locations.
